Robert Downey Jr. is now the owner of the iconic East Hampton windmill cottage

Robert Downey Jr. is now the owner of the historic Edward DeRose Windmill Cottage in East Hampton, reports Behind the Hedges.

The home—listed with Peter Turino of Brown Harris Stevens—was last asking $11.9 million, but it’s been on and off the market a bit in recent history. In 2015, it was asking the same $11.9 million price, but had come on the market for $13.5 million about a year prior.

Built in 1885, the home is on four acres of land with 8,500-square-feet of living space between the main house and the guest house. Keep in mind—it’s never been an actual windmill, but rather serves as a copy of an original windmill in East Hampton.

Between the main house, guest house, and studio, there are seven bedrooms, six full bathrooms, and five half bathrooms. There is also a three-car garage and potting shed on the property. An office and a library occupy the windmill portion of the structure.

Outside, there’s a pool, tennis court, and gardens. The guest house has two bedrooms.
