Hola everyone!

Now is the time to explore one of the coldest tourist places in Venezuela: Merida, which is recognized by its spectacular snow-capped peaks and its world’s highest cable car better known as “Teleferico”, (4,765 m) and the one with the longest path (13 Km).

The temperature of Merida city is between 19 C and 20 C and depending of the area, the climate changes towards coldest temperatures. In Merida often rains in the afternoons during January and February, these months are considered as the  coldest ones.

As one of Meridas’ main attractions there are various peaks around this city however, “El Bolivar peak”  is the highest one (5007 m/16,523 ft) and it’s often in the list of claimers, backpackers and wildlife lovers. Bolivar peak has temperatures between 5 C and 9 C, and it becomes below O C when it snows.

Are you thinking of main activities in Merida? Well, if you would like to visit and maybe try over 800 ice creams’ flavours, “The Heladeria Coromoto” (Guinness world record) is your best option. This unique place is one of the most visited in Merida and due to facility that this land has to produce different types of fruits and vegetables “The Heladeria Coromoto” offers flavours hardly sell by any other businesses such as, black beans flavor, shrimp, sausage and even garlic! But, for those who prefer traditional ice creams they will find a wide variety of fruits flavor as well.

  1. Oh my goodness, your posts keep getting better and better, it’s making it hard to choose which one is my fave! looks like you can spend a whole month discovering Merida, such a gorgeous town! What time of the year do you recommend best to explore xoxo

    • Merida is gorgeous Margo! I’m sure you will love it, and the local food is delicious too! Merida is definitely one of my favorite cities in Venezuela. December and February are the best months to go, as is when there is more snow! Do not forget to take a trip in El Teleferico (cable car) the view is amazing.

  2. This place has everything beaches, fun activiites and moutains! We don’t get much snow in El Salvador (there is one place) but I don’t think we have too many high mountains and the country is so much smaller. What a nice place!
