Florence Welch is honoring her sixth year of sobriety by spreading a message of hope to others who may be struggling.
The Florence + The Machine Frontwoman shared on Instagram this week that she tattooed the number three on her finger when she was three years sober because she broke that finger during a drunken fight.
She then captioned the painting of a red heart, “I send love to anyone on day 1. I love you. I’m with you.”
Friends and fans congratulated the singer on her milestone, including Azalea Banks, who commented, “Wow sis I’m freaking proud of you! This is such a dope post, extremely thoughtful and inspiring. Thank you.”
In June 2019, Welch, 33, opened up about her new life as a sober woman.

“Partying was, I felt, a defining feature of my personality – good at singing, good at drinking and good at taking drugs,” she told Vogue. “But the new-found thrill of leaving somewhere with all my belongings, having not been felt up by someone inappropriate in a car park, has still not left me.”

The “Dog Days Are Over” singer then added, “It feels miraculous to spend my Mondays working or reading rather than binge-watching ‘Bake Off’ unable to move, intermittently weeping into a pillow, hoping the bunting will block out the regret.”
