T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide now ready for Froyo Update

The T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide is a very popular phone.  The device is one of the few out there that still proudly has a full QWERTY keyboard, and a lot of people aren’t ready to let that go yet (myself included). When I heard that my fellow keyboarders were getting an update, I was very happy for them. The update is for Android OS 2.2, which I thought they already had but hey, welcome to Froyo! An OS upgrade isn’t the only perk you’ll be getting.

More Features for myTouch 3G Slide in Froyo Update

  • USB Tethering
  • Low storage notifications
  • fixes SMS and MMS issues
  • better Bluetooth support with older and newer devices
  • Wi-Fi calling!
  • Wi-Fi hotspot feature
  • improved stability

Now that’s an update! Unfortunately the update isn’t over the air, and you have to go here to get things started, but its a step in the right direction. Now that we are in April and Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread) has been out over 3 months, you HAVE to be like me wondering what the holdup is for devices to get this update (officially anyways). Maybe carriers and manufacturers are waiting for OS 2.4?

If that’s the case they should at least let people know. Let us know in the comments if you have a myTouch 3G Slide, and besides the addition of Flash, what this update brings for you!
