In true English-rose fashion, singer Florence Welch hardly requires makeup to look radiant. She’s luminous even when bare-faced. From wavy hair to toes, her look at Monday night’s Grammy Awards channeled that natural boho spirit for which she’s so famous.
In fact, makeup artist Lisa Aharon hardly used any makeup on her. The inspiration came from “the ethereal soft pink fabric of the dress,” says the artist, who adds, “there were so many embellishments on the [Gucci] dress that we decided to keep the look fresh and clean.” Her focus for the new face of Gucci jewelry and timepieces focused on radiant skin.
When going for a no-makeup look, says Aharon, “Don’t skip any steps in your skin-care routine. Make sure to cleanse and moisturize thoroughly so you have a perfect palette to work on.” In the Florence + the Machine frontwoman’s case, one of her go-tos was Burt’s Bees Repair Serum ($18). (She also used an eye treatment, plus Burt’s Bees Sensitive Moisturizing Cream, $15, to ensure there was no reflective sheen on camera.)
For Welch’s lips, which were a lovely rose hue that complemented her dusty pink dress, Aharon started by scrubbing them lightly with a cleansing towelette to slough off any dead skin. Next, she used Burt’s Bees Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm with Kokum Butter ($4) to hydrate, and for the color, Burt’s Bees Lipstick in Iced Iris ($9). Low- maintenance gorgeousness.
